SK hynix, the world's second-largest memory chip manufacturer, has teamed up with Solace, a leading data management platform provider.

On Tuesday, Solace released a statement saying its PubSub+ Platform was chosen by SK Group's semiconductor affiliate. Solace claimed SK's decision was because of its increased appetite to meet its burgeoning data management needs.

The statement added Solace's advanced event broker has enabled SK to handle larger volumes of data and implement event-driven microservices architecture, essential for removing tightly coupled dependencies among legacy applications.

“The deployment has helped SK hynix achieve more detailed monitoring and analysis of its data. This follows the use of a change management system to utilize real-time events,” Solace said.

“We now enjoy an automated process with high throughput and no downtime. Because of the simple architecture of Solace's unified platform, we find it easy to deploy and upgrade our systems when needed,” Ahn Changhyun, technical leader at SK hynix, was quoted as saying in the statement.

With main operations across South Korea and in China, it's no surprise that SK is hoping to enable real-time action and responsiveness in overseas offices. Solace described SK's former approach by saying “Their (SK) old approach relied on multicast groups, which made maintenance and changes difficult and placed challenges on its network bandwidth, limiting the real-time visibility of information.”

Solace said it enables SK hynix's architects design an end-to-end infrastructure that is easy to build applications on, secure and easily scalable. Besides ensuring applications can disconnect and reconnect without missing data, Solace offers built-in high availability and disaster recovery with failover times unmatched by other solutions.

“This project has helped SK Hynix increase its operational efficiency and competitiveness in the market,” Solace Vice President Sumeet Puri said in the release. “Managing an ever-increasing amount of data has been a challenge for modern enterprises such as SK hynix. An event-driven approach to this problem has been a real innovation and helps organizations deliver performance at the real-time expectations of today's customers.”
