Coway lures consumers with multifunctional clothing care system

With an increasing number of people taking environmental issues such as fine dust more seriously, home and clothing cleaning systems have become more popular, encouraging competition among companies including tech giants Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics.

For its part, Woongjin Coway has caught users' attention with its multifunctional clothing care product, Double Care. The product was launched in May, achieving sales of 3,000 devices on average every month.

The nation's largest home appliance rental service provider said Double Care is a hybrid product enabling clothes management and air purification.

With functions of the product extending to purifying and dehumidifying spaces as well as managing and drying clothes, consumers can save money as they do not need to purchase multiple devices.

The closet-like device, which can be used all year round, removes any odors and fine dust when users hang their clothes in it.

The company said the clothes management feature of Double Care, which uses air shot technology and air shot hangers, takes care of odors and wrinkles as well as removing fine dust from the inside and outside of clothes.

The clothes dryer function is quiet and designed to minimize creases in clothing using a tailored heat pump-driven, low-temperature dehumidification process. This function is very effective for dress slacks, school uniforms and casual shirts, the company said.

The device also offers enhanced crease care function, making it possible to smooth out the creases in trousers more effectively than existing methods.

To ensure a pleasant indoor environment, the air purification system of the device consists of a super-fine fiber net filter, tailored filter, deodorization filter and fine dust collection filter. The dehumidification system can remove up to seven liters of moisture a day, keeping clothes free from condensation and mold.

Rental customers can receive a professional care service every four months.
