Samsung Electronics Co. opened its new flagship store for Galaxy smartphones in Tokyo on Tuesday, as Japan celebrates the 500-day countdown to the start of the 2020 Summer Olympics.
The six-story store with one underground level is named Galaxy Harajuku and is the largest among Samsung's Galaxy Showcase stores, the South Korean tech giant said.
The front facade of the building in the buzzing streets of Harajuku is decorated with over 1,000 Galaxy smartphones, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the series this year.
Visitors can check and buy the latest smartphones and wearable devices in the experience zones and receive repair services in the store, the firm said.
With the Olympics fast approaching, Samsung also held a celebration event with officials from the International Olympic Committee and other Olympic partners to wish for a successful hosting.
Samsung, an Olympic Partner in wireless communications equipment, has been exploring ways to expand its foothold in the Japanese market as Japanese mobile carriers are preparing to power broad-scale 5G networks during the international sports event. (Yonhap)
