Naver Business Platform (NBP) will provide cloud service to the country's top securities firm Mirae Asset Daewoo, the company said Friday.

The cloud and data management subsidiary of Korea's largest portal operator Naver, NBP said it signed a contract with Mirae Asset Daewoo for providing its high-performance computing (HPC) cloud system. HPC is the use of supercomputers and parallel processing techniques for solving complex computational tasks.

As it is most useful for organizations with complex modeling and simulation requirements, NBP said it has seen increasing demand from financial companies that are required to have stable and fast transaction service.

An NBP official declined to disclose the length or value of the contract.

NBP said the partnership with Mirae Asset Daewoo will help the company win more cloud service contracts with other companies.

“Naver Cloud Platform earned the highest security certification as it acquired a gold certification from the Cloud Security Alliance's (CSA) Security, Trust and Assurance Registry (STAR) for the first time among Korean cloud service providers,” Yhim Tae-gun, cloud sales director at NBP, said in a statement.

“As the CSA STAR is the industry's most powerful security assurance program, obtaining a gold certification proves NBP has a maturity level of security controls,” Yhim said.

Mirae Asset Daewoo said they decided to use NBP's HPC cloud service to react to sudden market changes more efficiently. It added the adoption of Naver's cloud service will help the company reduce costs as well.

NBP entered the cloud service market of Korea in April 2017. While the cloud service market here is dominated by foreign IT firms such as Amazon Web Service, Microsoft, Google and IBM, NBP has expanded its service coverage to enterprise level networks, security and data management.
