LG CNS has released an internet of things (IoT) platform that collects, delivers and stores enormous amounts of data created by IoT devices, the company said Sunday.
The platform, called “INFioT,” will help various IoT services in diverse industries by collecting massive amounts of data created by IoT devices in real time, categorizing the data and storing it by type.
For example, the platform will enable an automobile company to collect user data such as how many times a driver steps on the brake and accelerator pedals. After analyzing his or her driving habits, the firm can send a text message to the driver telling them it is time to replace parts, automatically making and confirming a booking at a customer service center.
The LG Group IT affiliate says “INFioT” is a compound word of “Infinite” and “IoT,” meaning the platform, embedded with infinite possibilities and technology, will advance industry.
The platform can collect data from IoT devices at home, factories and buildings at the same time.
The INFioT platform can also be connected with the IT firm's artificial intelligence (AI) data platform, “DAP,” to offer intelligence services. The DAP platform will process data collected by the INFioT to create higher value information, which can be used in developing smart cities, factories and connected cars.
LG CNS added that its INFioT platform was embedded with the firm's own security system developed exclusively for IoT devices, enabling the platform to offer security services at all levels from data collection, delivery and storage.
