NCSOFT said Thursday it posted 65.1 billion won ($56.6 million) in operating profit in the third quarter, up 29 percent from 50.6 billion won a year ago.
According to its regulatory filing, the nation’s leading computer online game company recorded 217.6 billion won in sales and 47.9 billion won in net profit in the quarter, up 11 percent and 56 percent year-on-year, respectively.
Besides its oldest computer online game “Lineage,” which alone generated 83.8 billion won in sales, “Lineage 2” recorded 20.6 billion won and “Blade & Soul” 40.1 billion won, up 32 percent and 61 percent respectively, contributing to the company’s quarterly performance improvement.
NCSOFT also said its sales in the global market can be broken down to 27.6 billion won from the North American and European regions, 12.8 billion won from Japan and 10.3 billion won from Taiwan.
NCSOFT said it will release the first closed beta test for its much-hyped new computer online game “Lineage Eternal” this month.
“We have reflected unprecedented design and the latest trends of massively multiplayer online role-playing games to Lineage Eternal,” NCSOFT CFO Yoon Jae-soo said during a conference call, Thursday. “We are also preparing for end contents also based on the latest trends.”
The company will also roll out mobile game “Lineage Red Knights” in 12 global markets on Dec. 8.
