LG Electronics launched a new clothes dryer with a world-first feature, Thursday.

The nation’s second-largest electronics company said the new dryer is the first with a door that can be opened from left to right or from top to bottom. This means users can put clothes in and take them out more conveniently, according to the size and type of the items.

“As customer demand for clothes management expand, we will continue to roll out more diverse types of clothes dryers to lead the market,” LG Electronics Home Appliances and Air Solution Company Senior Vice President Simon Jeon said.

LG Electronics said the new dryer has sensors that detect the remaining humidity of the clothes and analyzes it to automatically adjust operating time. In this way, users can prevent dryer damage to clothes by drying them for too long or finishing the operation without completely drying them.

The device, which uses liquefied natural gas for fuel, can dry 4 kilograms of clothes in 40 minutes in standard mode and finish them within 25 minutes in express mode. Users can also download additional drying programs for certain clothes such as jeans, training suits and blankets by connecting the dryer to their smartphones.

The new device is priced at 1.04 million won ($942) in the Korean market, the company said.
