For many years, the cloud has gradually increased over Korea.

As the cloud matures, many vendors and IT leaders recognize that most organizations will require multiple types of cloud uses to meet effectively their productivity and security goals that can bring innovation at a lower cost.

As a core technology of the cloud platform, server virtualization is a major, growing trend in Korea.

Enterprises are looking for efficiency and agility rapidly in adopting server virtualization in their systems.

For example, Daewoo E&C, one of the biggest construction companies in Korea, and Rsupport, the leading company in remote support solutions in Asia, have jumped into virtualization this year.

Thanks to virtualization, both companies reduced system configuration time and attained flexibility to meet the IT needs of individual departments. They also retained the competitiveness of enhanced productivity through sever virtualization.

As cloud and mobile are converged, they have become the center of every business.

Mobile and the cloud were previously disparate technologies that did not have much to do with each other, but now the cloud has become a crucial component for everything -- ranging from development, testing to application services.

To meet this trend, many Korean enterprises are trying to adopt business mobility through desktop virtualization.

Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is the key solution to maintaining efficiency and enhancing security while the number of employees using personal devices in their working environment grows.

Therefore, companies and organizations across other industries, such as the National Cancer Center, Sogang University and top mobile service provider KaKao, have begun to take part in this mobile cloud trend with VDI. In addition, cloud security is now connecting with mobile security for identity and device management.

As we look back on 2015, it is safe to say that mobile and cloud computing, the foundational mega trends that create the next generation of IT, will be more than just booming in 2016. Security will continue to be an ever evolving and pervasive trend next year.

After the launch of the “Act on the Development of Cloud Computing and Protection of Users” on September 28 last year, the government has tried to increase the introduction rate of the cloud in enterprises and public areas to expand the cloud market in Korea.

In fact, global market researcher IDC predicts that the number of new cloud-based solutions will triple in the next four to five years.

“As a result, it is necessary for both technology vendors and buyers to recognize the industry drivers and barriers of cloud deployment, to understand the business transformation brought by cloud, and to act upon the changes that will shape business and technology strategy in the coming years.” IDC said.

Now, it is crucial for companies to move toward a unified, one-cloud platform that supports any app on any device. The one cloud actually stands for multiple clouds with management that allows companies to move workloads and data seamlessly across the public, private and hybrid cloud models.

This is the time for enterprises to participate in the huge digital transformation of cloud and to leverage their business landscape in a more innovative way.
