LG Electronics, the nation’s second-largest electronics maker, will expand its presence in the U.S. dishwasher market with a new premium product equipped with advanced washing capability.

The dishwasher has technologies derived from LG Electronics’ latest washing machine models and can wash dishes more thoroughly, according to the company, Friday.

“We will lead the U.S. kitchen electric appliances market with the new premium dishwasher equipped with differentiated technologies we have developed in the washing machine sector,” LG Electronics Home Appliance & Air Solution Business Division head Cho Sung-jin said.

The company said the new dishwasher has what it calls “TrueSteamTM.” This jets hot steam to remove leftover food sticking to dishes and sterilizes them. The steam does not leave water stains, the company said.

The new product also has the inverter Direct Drive (DD) motor, which was developed for LG Electronics’ washing machines. The DD motor rotates in two ways, spraying water in several directions. This showers dishes quickly and thoroughly and reduces operating time by 40 percent compared with older models, the company said.

LG Electronics said it will unveil the dishwasher at the Consumer Electronics Show 2016 in Las Vegas, scheduled from Jan. 6, and plans to roll it out in the United States within the first half of next year.
