MeegoPad T02, a mini-desktop PC that fits in your hand, has been launched here, enabling full access to Windows anywhere users go.
Last month, MeegoPad Korea unveiled the 50-gram portable PC equipped with the Windows 10 operating system (OS). The 11.5-centimeter-long PC-on-a-stick functions like any other existing desktop or laptop, ranging from Internet access to word processing.
MeegoPad T02 is an upgraded version of its predecessor the T01. One of the key features of the latest device is an improved cooling system. The overheating issue has been one of the biggest drawbacks for stick PCs of its kind. The design helps MeegoPad dissipate heat efficiently even after hours of operation.
Although it comes with an internal memory of 32 gigabytes, the capacity is not as bad as it appears given that the device will not be used as a primary PC, but as a sub-PC for portable use.
The Chinese-made device is equipped with an Intel quad-core Atom Processor and 2 gigabytes of RAM, which is enough for those who enjoy surfing the web and editing text with their PCs.
Once plugged into an HDMI port on any television or monitor, MeegoPad enables full Windows access. All users need is a Bluetooth or USB keyboard and mouse.
The stick PC is charged through micro USB. The device also allows users to access the Internet through Wi-Fi. This means you do not have to sign up for additional Internet services if you can use your mobile phone as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
“All you need is a television or monitor to plug in the PC-on-a-stick,” a company official said. “On top of that, it comes with a competitive price which we believe will bring a new sensation to the local PC market.”
Another feature is that users can take advantage of its audio output and two USB slots to connect headphones or peripherals.
The device appears to be fit not just for home users, but also office workers making lots of presentations.
“MeegoPad will help ease the burden of office workers who have to carry huge and heavy laptops when taking business trips,” the company official said.
MeegoPad is priced at 164,000 won ($138) here, relatively cheaper than traditional desktop PCs or other portable devices.
The company said it expects the device to add to new momentum to the country’s sluggish PC market.
