SimpleX Internet, provider of Korea’s leading online shopping mall hosting service Cafe24, will expand local firms’ direct sales channel to overseas markets by cooperating with China’s Alipay.

The two companies signed an agreement to build a global logistics network, aiming to boost exports through e-commerce, in Seoul, Thursday.

“We believe that the application of logistics infrastructure will determine the success in the global e-commerce market in the future,” SimpleX Internet Chief Executive Lee Jae-suk said. “We will continue to provide local businesses seeking direct sales channels overseas with a system environment specialized and localized in each foreign market.”

Alipay is the e-commerce payment service from the world’s second-largest IT enterprise, Alibaba. It has more than 400 million users and is the largest online payment service in China with about a 50 percent market share.

Under the agreement, Cafe24 will provide an integrated customs clearance and shipment service called “Alipay ePass” to users.

SimpleX Internet said it is the first time a Korean business has introduced China’s top payment service here. It also said the collaboration will benefit consumers in China as they will be able to get Korean goods shipped more cheaply and conveniently.
