LG Display CEO Han Sang-beom will make a keynote speech at the IFA technology fair in Berlin in September.

He will speak on display technologies and the importance of organic light-emitting diode(OLED) technology, the company said Thursday.

This is the first time the company CEO has decided to deliver the opening keynote address at the fair. IFA is the world's leading trade fair for home appliances and will take place at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds from Sept. 4-9.

Messe Berlin, the show organizer, said the speech would touch on the future of display technologies and product specifications such as paper-thin and transparent displays.

IFA executive director Jens Heithecker said: “This is a moment to look forward to, as a global pioneer and technology leader envisions the future. We are thrilled to get the IFA started together with the LG Display CEO.”

Han is an expert on semiconductors and displays, with more than three decades of experience.

He has been credited with leading the company's IT and TV business units to worldwide prominence during his career.

As head of the IT unit in 2007, Han’s team succeeded in developing the company’s monitor and notebook PC panels into best-selling liquid crystal display (LCD) products, advancing the company position in the global market.

As head of the TV unit in 2010, he achieved a major accomplishment with the successful launch of film-type patterned retarder 3D technology, which gained a stronghold in the global TV LCD panel market.

Han has been also recognized as a global pioneer in commercializing OLED.
