Olympus to unveil new optical devices in Korea

Olympus Korea, the Seoul branch of the world’s leading optical equipment maker, said Monday it will showcase new industrial microscopes and endoscopes at Korea’s largest semiconductor fair.

“As a leading global optical devices maker, we have contributed to the national industrial growth through various products and ceaseless research and development efforts and will continue to do so in the future,” said Jeon Jong-cheol, Olympus Korea’s scientific solutions business division manager, in a statement.

At the Semicon Korea 2015, which is scheduled between Feb. 4 and 6 at COEX in southern Seoul, Olympus Korea will exhibit industrial microscopes OLS4500, DSX series and STM7. These latest devices can be used for three-dimensional precision measurement of nanometer-class materials and guarantee high reliability in research and development, the company said.

The Japan-based optical company will also display new industrial endoscopes.

It said the IPLEX RX and RT endoscopes have improved light-emitting diode illumination and sensors and thus can be used to look into dark and narrow spaces such as inside factory pipes and airplane engines. The IFLEX UL is super-lightweight and is much handier to use it in a place hard to access.

Semicon Korea is the nation’s largest annual semiconductor fair hosted by industry organization Semiconductor Equipment and Material International. This year’s event is the 28th to be held and more than 500 companies from 20 countries will participate in it.

Leaders of IT giants including Samsung Electronics, Intel and Cisco will deliver keynote speeches at the event.
