SK C&C, the system integration service affiliate of SK Group, said Monday that it has awarded small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) for providing a range of promising ideas and suggestions for new IT-related businesses.
At an award ceremony titled “Win-Win Biz Idea Festival 2014 with Biz Partners,” the company invited five winning SMEs and awarded them with prizes and subsidies for business.
“The biggest achievement of this festival was that we could rediscover potential research and development capability and technological excellence of our business partners,” said Jung Poong-wook, SK C&C’s procurement division chief. “We will support the winning business ideas to be result in tangible achievements. We will also work to facilitate business growth engines of our partners.”
Earlier on Wednesday, SK C&C has arranged a presentation event about latest technologies and ideas on solution-based joint ventures and invited 90 executives from its business partners to the event.
The company said the event aims at establishing better cooperation between SK C&C and its smaller partners and to support them to create visible results from the joint ventures with them.
The top prize was won by a company named Dream Visions. It has suggested an idea for business-to-business smart care and a control solution business using near-field communication technology called “Beacon.”
Beacon is based on using Bluetooth and location recognition technologies and is expected to be used to establish a security control system in a building or user-recognizing marketing system at indoor shopping districts.
Dream Visions CEO Heo Gak said, “We had difficulties in pushing ahead with the project on our own because we didn’t have enough manpower and budget. Now we recovered our confidence about the new business and further research and developments thanks to the award that gave us the opportunity to cooperate with SK C&C.”
