LSIS unveils automation solutions

LSIS, a major supplier of electric equipment in Korea, said Wednesday it was introducing new automated products to find a new growth engine.

The company said that it held a launch event for advanced inverters ― S100 and H100 ― and user-friendly interfaces ― the XGT panel iXP series.

An inverter is an electronic device that changes direct current to alternating current.

The products are for industrial use, said LSIS spokesman Kim Bong-kyu.

Kim said the S100 inverter is customized for industrial facilities, while the H100 features a cutting-edge heating ventilation air conditioning (HVAC) system, which targets business-to-business (B2B) clients in North America.

The iXP allows clients to check the current status of equipment in real time, while the H100 can control and operate computing systems.

“LSIS plans to boost sales of the S100 and H100 to 150 billion won and 100 billion won, respectively, within the next three years,” said the spokesman.

While diversification is the key in technology industries, LSIS is transforming itself into a total provider that is mostly focused on automotive and automation businesses amid blurring lines between IT firms and the car industry.

Specifically, LSIS is closely collaborating with Korea’s LG Chem in automotive-related business projects as LG Chem secured more than 10 global carmakers as clients for its car batteries.

“LSIS is using LG Chem’s client channels to expand the sale of our car components other than car batteries. In return, LG Chem is using LSIS’ human resources to strengthen its car parts business as LG Group is aggressive to grow its vehicle component business to offset the effects of falling smartphone and TV sales,” said an official at LG Group by telephone, asking not to be identified.
