A research team of University of Pittsburgh has announced that they have successfully developed a microbrain, which started off with a brain cell of embryonic rats and proteins.

The new invention is getting attentions from the world, making people to wonder what this human-made brain can do in the science field, DiscoveryNews reported on June 2 on its website.

The microbrain consists of about 40 to 60 rat neurons, capable of memorizing for 12 seconds. This brain was made by first letting proteins to dry, and then put a rat’s brain cell in the protein, giving time to let them grow and connect.

After they have are connected each other completely, it formed a natural ring-shaped network capable of transmitting and receiving electrical signals for a very short term.

The researchers plan to use this microbrain to study how our brains transmit electrical signals and how our neural networks so efficiently process and store data. Many scientist are looking forward to seeing this microbrain’s effects in a science field, said a research of the team.
