Science of aliens, UFOs at exhibition

Stories involving aliens have recently caught public interest such as UFO files released by the British government and a fake of a dead alien body in Russia. A huge science exhibition will be offered to know whether living things exist or not outside Earth with science eager to answer the wonders.

"2011 The Science of Aliens " will open at an exhibition hall near the Children's Grand Park in eastern Seoul on April 28. The show has been staged in the U.S., Japan, Britain and other European nations since 2005.

The exhibition will feature the origin of space, mysteries, traces of alien life and UFOs through diverse videos and models.

Visitors can observe variety of relics and other stuff through materials from the ancient to the present. A model depicting the alien and the image of its autopsy conducted when the alleged alien was found to fall in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947, will be displayed.

In the alien communication zone, visitors can send messages to alien living things using the method of searching for extra-terrestrial intelligence (SETI), a general term for the activity to find extraterrestrial intelligent life. It aims to find alien life by getting an electromagnetic wave from other planets.

Guides will be ready on hand to offer explanations to visitors' questions in each booths of the exhibition. It will continue through Aug. 28.

“외계인·UFO 보자”…국내 최초 외계과학전 열린다

최근 영국 국방성의 UFO 관련 비밀문서 공개와 러시아 외계인 사체 진위 논란 등이 잇달아 화제를 모으며 외계인에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있는 가운데, 과학적 근거에 의해 지구 이외 행성에서 생명체 유무를 체험적으로 학습하는 대규모 과학 전시회가 열려 눈길을 끈다.

오는 28일부터 서울 능동 어린이 회관 내에 있는 외계과학전시장에서는 ‘2011 영국 사이언스뮤지엄 외계과학전’(이하 외계과학전)이 개최된다. 외계과학전은 이미 2005년 영국을 시작으로 미국과 일본, 유럽 등 국외에서 소개된 전시회로 콘텐츠를 검증받은 바 있다.

국내에서 최초 공개되는 이번 외계과학전은 전시와 체험이 결합한 색다른 경험을 제공할 예정이다. 첨단기술의 전시 기법을 통한 우주의 생성과 신비, UFO와 외계생명체의 흔적들을 파헤친 다양한 영상자료들과 실제 모형들을 통해 보여준다.

관람객들은 고대에서부터 현재까지 UFO와 관련된 미스터리 서클 등 다양한 유물과 물품들을 영상과 모형 등으로 확인할 수 있다. 1947년 미국 뉴멕시코주 로즈웰에서 일어난 UFO 추락 사건을 추락 당시 발견된 외계인 사체 모형과 해부 영상으로 볼 수 있다.

또 실제 외계생명체와 대화를 시도하는 방법(SETI) 그대로 관람객이 직접 미지의 외계생명체에 메시지를 전송할 수 있는 체험존도 마련돼 있다. ‘SETI’(Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence)는 외계 지적 생명체를 찾기 위한 일련의 활동을 통칭적으로 부르는 말로, 이 프로젝트는 외계 행성들로부터 보내오는 전자기파를 찾아서 외계생명체를 찾는 것을 목적으로 한다.

한편 외계과학전의 각 부스에는 해당 안내원이 상세한 설명으로 관람객들의 궁금증을 풀어줄 예정이다. 전시는 4월 28일부터 8월 28일까지다.
