UFO sighted over crippled Fukushima nuclear plant

The alleged observation of an unidentified flying object over the damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant in northeastern Japan is stirirng controversy on the Internet.

In the 50-second footage, a white, flat object was slowly passing over the crippled nuclear plant. The image, called “Fukushima UFO,” gained popularity among Internet users.

NRD, a local broadcaster based in northern Germany, took the video and released it last Tuesday.

But observers said it remains to be seen whether it is a UFO since the NRD took pictures of an object from a long distance away. However, given its size and speed, it is certain that it was not an “ordinary” object, they said.

Some Internet users claimed the image is a proof that it was a UFO. A UFO may have conducted an inspection of the Fukushima disaster, as objects, which were presumed to have been UFOs, were sighted several times previously at sites of natural disaster or major man-made incidents, they said.

Many people, however, criticized the argument, saying that it was an unnecessary debate. Now is the time when scars of the Japanese nuclear disaster have yet to be cured, they said.

Moreover, Japan last Tuesday raised the severity level of the Fukushima nuclear crisis to rank it on par with the 1986 Chernobyl disaster, citing cumulative radiation leaks contaminating the air, tap water, vegetables and seawater, they said.

후쿠시마 원전 상공서 ‘거대 UFO’ 포착 논란

일본 후쿠시마 원전 상공에서 의문의 비행체가 포착돼 논란이 되고 있다.

희고 납작한 물체가 후쿠시마 원전 바로 위로 천천히 지나가는 모습이 담긴 50여 초의 영상은 ‘후쿠시마 UFO’란 이름으로 인터넷에서 큰 인기를 끌고 있다.

이 영상은 독일 북부지역 방송공사(NDR)이 지난 12일 촬영해 공개한 것이다. 원거리에서 찍혔기 때문에 비행체를 정확히 파악하긴 어려웠지만 크기와 속도로 미뤄 일반적인 비행체는 아니란 것이 항공 전문가들의 대체적인 분석이다.

일부 네티즌들은 이 영상이 UFO의 증거라며 관심을 보이고 있다. 자연재해나 대형사고 현장에서 UFO로 추정되는 비행체가 여러 번 포착됐기 때문에 이번에도 UFO가 긴박하게 돌아가는 원전사고를 시찰했다고 주장하는 네티즌도 적지 않다.

하지만 일각에서는 일본 대지진의 상흔이 채 치유되지도 않았고 원전사고의 등급이 최고단계인 레벨 7로 높여져 민감한 때에 불필요한 논란을 불러일으킨다고 비난의 목소리를 내고 있다.
