LG Energy Solution is expanding its social contribution efforts through employee-led volunteer work and donations as it deepens engagement with local communities.
Employees at the company's battery plant in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province, organized a special gift-giving event for underprivileged children ahead of Children's Day on May 5.
The initiative provided personalized gifts and messages of encouragement to 80 children selected in cooperation with the regional Office of Education. Based on wish lists submitted in advance, employees individually chose and wrapped gifts tailored to each child's preferences.
The company said it plans to make the program a regular initiative, holding it annually around Children's Day in May and Christmas in December.
At its R&D campus in Daejeon, the company also carried out a toy donation and repair campaign to support children's emotional development. Employees collected used toys through an internal donation drive in April, then cleaned and repaired them before delivering them to local children in need ahead of Children's Day.
“Given the engineering-oriented nature of the research campus, employees found repairing and assembling toys especially engaging,” a company official said. “The initiative was meaningful not only because it brought joy to children, but also because it promoted resource circulation through the reuse of toys.”
LG Energy Solution has also operated an in-house volunteer program for the past five years, providing employees with opportunities to participate in community service activities.
Through the program, the company organizes one to two volunteer events each month across its business sites, including meal services for senior citizens, maintenance work at national cemeteries, mural painting projects and hands-on educational programs for people with disabilities.
The company also operates a companywide digital donation platform, which allows employees to contribute to verified causes through a kiosk.
The system is designed to streamline participation by presenting curated cases of individuals and communities in need.
To further encourage participation, the company has implemented a paid leave program for employees who engage in volunteer activities independently, enabling team-based or family-led initiatives.
LG Energy Solution said it will continue to expand opportunities for employees to participate in social contribution activities in their daily lives and share positive impacts.
“LG Energy Solution is committed to growing together with local communities by identifying their needs and assessing where it can make the greatest impact,” the company’s official said.
“We will continue to foster a warm culture where employees can take pride in sharing care with neighbors and participating in social contribution activities.” (Advertorial)
