For decades, French vehicles have earned recognition for their ability to absorb minor road imperfections with ease while maintaining smooth and confident cornering.

The need to maneuver through narrow urban streets and navigate sharp bends on mountainous roads led French automakers to develop suspension systems that focused on ride comfort and balanced handling.

The narrow, winding streets of Paris and the twisting mountain roads of the Alps and Pyrenees have long demanded agility, composure and refinement from French automobiles — characteristics that have become hallmarks of the country’s automotive engineering.

This driving philosophy became deeply embedded in the engineering of Renault, one of France’s most iconic carmakers, and that heritage is clearly evident in Renault Korea’s Grand Koleos. The SUV features optimized front and rear suspension systems, allowing it to absorb impact from uneven road surfaces while maintaining a stable posture during sudden directional changes.

Vibrations transmitted into the cabin are effectively minimized over rough pavement, while the vehicle retains reassuring stability through corners without excessive body movement.

These characteristics naturally become strengths on Korean roads. Korea’s driving environment combines congested city intersections, narrow backstreets, winding regional highways and long-distance expressways — conditions where ride comfort and cornering stability become meaningful competitive advantages.

This explains why the Grand Koleos SUV has been well received by Korean drivers. The driving refinement honed on the alleyways of Paris and the winding mountain passes of France proves equally capable on Korea’s urban streets, highways and curving country roads.

A total of 48,189 Grand Koleos SUVs were sold last year, which accounts for more than half of Renault Korea’s total vehicle sales during the same period.

The driving experience becomes even more polished in the Grand Koleos hybrid E-Tech model. The vehicle's electric motor delivers immediate torque response, enabling smooth yet brisk acceleration from a standstill.

Even during sudden acceleration or hard braking, body pitch phenomena such as nose dive and nose lift are kept to a minimum, helping the vehicle maintain a stable driving posture. Complementing this is Renault’s three-speed multimode automatic transmission, which minimizes shift shock and delivers seamless power transitions for a consistently smooth ride.

Renault’s driving philosophy, refined over decades on French roads, continues to resonate far beyond its home market. The Grand Koleos flagship SUV stands out on Korean roads as a vehicle that embodies Renault’s accumulated expertise and decades of engineering experience.
