LG Energy Solution said Thursday that it has joined SDVerse, becoming the first battery maker to participate in the automotive software business-to-business marketplace.
Founded through a partnership among General Motors, Magna International and Wipro, SDVerse operates as an open marketplace where automakers, suppliers and developers can buy and sell automotive software in a single environment. The platform is widely seen as a key enabler of the industry’s shift toward software-defined vehicles.
LG Energy Solution said it is listing five battery software offerings on SDVerse: Battery Platform SW, Safety Diagnostic Calibration Tool, Onboard FRISM, Onboard BLiS and Onboard DASH.
Battery Platform SW analyzes key indicators of battery health, including degradation and lifespan, adapting the company’s existing battery management system technology for software-defined vehicle environments.
The Safety Diagnostic Calibration Tool conducts safety diagnostics and simulation validation using battery data, employing in-house algorithms that reduce reliance on external inputs and limit security risks.
Onboard FRISM uses algorithms to estimate battery condition from field data and correct errors through machine learning, enabling precise degradation analysis without relying on cell test data.
Onboard BLiS predicts battery degradation and estimates performance under varying conditions, using physical models that track voltage, current and temperature to simulate battery health.
Onboard DASH measures how driving and charging habits affect battery degradation, offering real-time condition monitoring and guidance for long-term battery management.
LG Energy Solution said its participation in the marketplace is part of a broader strategy to position itself as a total solutions provider and sharpen its competitive edge, adding that it has built more than two decades of battery management system expertise and holds more than 10,000 related patents.
It offers battery management services under its B.around brand, including the B-lifecare continuous diagnostics service and the B.once evaluation service. In October, its Better.Re solution became the first purely software-based product in the battery industry to receive a CES Innovation Award.
LG Energy Solution Chief Technology Officer Kim Je-young said the company expects to extend its battery software capabilities to a broader range of clients through the marketplace, adding that it aims to further strengthen its technological leadership as the era of software-defined vehicles approaches.
