Major home appliance maker Coway has launched new ice water dispensers to cement its dominance in the domestic market for the popular appliance.

The company said Wednesday that it has introduced four new stand-type ice water dispenser models designed for use in nonresidential settings.

The new lineup targets a wide range of customers, including businesses of varying sizes and high-traffic public spaces.

A key strength of the products is their significantly enhanced ice-making capacity, both in volume and speed. The top-tier model, Ice Stand 5.2, can store up to 5.2 kilograms of ice and produce up to 1,659 ice cubes — or 20 kilograms — per day, generating new ice every 12 minutes. According to the company, this represents a 94 percent increase in volume and a 31 percent improvement in production speed compared to its predecessor.

Another model, Ice Stand 3.0, offers a storage capacity of 3 kilograms and can produce up to 1,246 ice cubes, or 13.6 kilograms, per day — roughly double the output of the previous version.

These upgraded capacities allow the products to meet the demands of high-usage environments such as offices, commercial facilities, restaurants, lounges and military bases, where ice consumption is particularly high. Along with additional models offering storage capacities of 3.8 kilograms and 1 kilogram, the expanded lineup provides a broader range of options for customers beyond traditional household use.

A feature dispensing water and ice simultaneously to boost convenience has been added to two of the new models. An advanced sterilization feature that regularly disinfects ice storage, ice tray and faucet, a design allowing for easy disassembly and reassembly of parts for cleaning, and a Class 1 Energy Efficiency Rating are also among the products' benefits.

Coway’s new product expansion came as the country sees increasing demand for ice cubes by customers or visitors in public spaces. Already enjoying a prominent presence across the country's home ice water dispenser market, the company is determined to extend its market dominance to public venues.

“Last year, we expanded our lineup of home ice water dispensers to seven models, ranging from ultracompact to large-capacity types. This year, we are reinforcing our offerings with stand-type models to solidify our leadership in the commercial market as well," a Coway official said.

"Based on our powerful ice-making technology, easy hygiene management, and high energy efficiency, we will continue to strengthen our position as the unrivaled leader in the ice water purifier market."
