Samsung supplies OLED displays for Zeekr's flagship SUV

Samsung Display said Wednesday that it has started supplying three types of automotive OLED displays for Zeekr’s 9X flagship SUV from the latter half of last year.

The three displays include the center information panels, passenger information and rear-seat entertainment displays, according to the Korean manufacturer.

Zeekr is Chinese automaker Geely Auto Group’s premium vehicle brand. The 9X SUV is one of the most sought-after luxury large SUVs in China. Samsung Display expects this latest deal to raise its global profile as a display supplier, particularly in the premium vehicle segment.

The 17-inch rear seat entertainment OLED display is the first of its kind, featuring a ceiling-mounted design. Samsung Display and Zeekr co-developed what they call a “wing-style sliding screen,” which allows the display to move up to 88 centimeters between the second and third row rear seats.

“Samsung Display’s in-vehicle OLED displays offer not just high brightness, but perfect true black, so it is optimized for those who seek quality mobility experiences,” said Choi Yong-suk, vice president of automotive OLED sales at Samsung Display.

“We will continue launching more differentiated and high-performance display products, so the company can strengthen partnerships with global carmakers and lead the market for OLED displays used for vehicles."

This is not the first time that Samsung Display has worked with Zeekr. In 2024, Samsung Display started supplying its OLED panels for Zeekr’s 009 luxury all-electric SUV.

Zeekr Vice President Xu Yun also touted its partnership with Samsung Display.

“Samsung Display’s top-notch OLED displays have enabled Zeekr’s 9X SUV to realize a luxurious cinema space inside the vehicle,” the Zeekr executive said. “The large screens, optimized for the six-seater car, will provide special driving experiences to customers.”

Zeekr 9X is China’s top-selling premium SUVs priced over 500,000 yuan ($71,826).
