LG Sangnam Press Foundation announced Wednesday that it has appointed former Hankook Ilbo President and CEO Lee Jun-hee as its new chairman of the board.

Lee, who currently serves as an adviser to the Korean daily, has been a member of the foundation’s board since 2019. He previously served the daily, the sister company of The Korea Times, as editor-in-chief and chief editorial writer.

Along with Lee’s appointment, the foundation named Chosun Ilbo chief editorial writer Yang Sang-hoon as board director. Byun Young-hun, head of audit at KPMG Samjong Accounting Corp., was appointed as the board’s new auditor.

Youn Sug-min, a professor in Seoul National University's Department of Communication, SBS editorial writer Cho Jeoung and Lee Jin-woo, director of strategy and planning at Maeil Business Newspaper, also joined the board as new members.

Run by LG Group, the foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the country’s journalism industry.
