Netmarble and Coway Chairman Bang Jun-hyuk is gaining attention for promoting social values through initiatives that go beyond corporate profit by leveraging his company’s core expertise.

According to a press release from Netmarble, under Bang's leadership social contribution efforts at Netmarble and Coway have been refocused on sustained, expertise-based engagement rather than one-time donations.

A key vehicle for these efforts is the Netmarble Cultural Foundation, chaired by Bang, which promotes the idea that games can serve as a positive cultural content.

The foundation’s flagship program Game Communication School helps bridge generational gaps by encouraging parents and children to play and understand games together. The initiative has been credited with improving family relationships and spreading more positive perceptions of gaming culture.

Netmarble also supports youth interested in gaming careers through its Game Expedition program, which introduces students to various game-related professions and helps them explore career paths in the industry.

Earlier this year, the company also opened the Netmarble Game Museum, which is designed to highlight the social and cultural significance of games in Korea.

The press release added Bang is also a strong advocate in supporting athletes with disabilities.

In 2018, Netmarble became the first company in Korea’s gaming industry to establish a para rowing team. The team provides a stable employment and training environment, enabling athletes to focus on their sport and achieve independence.

The Netmarble para rowing team has achieved notable success, winning 12 medals, including nine gold, at the 45th Korea National Para Games this year. Previously, two team members were selected for Korea’s national team and competed in the 2024 Paris Paralympics.

Coway has also expanded its support for para sports by establishing the Coway Blue Wheels wheelchair basketball team in 2022.

All team members are hired as full-time Coway employees, ensuring financial and professional stability while they compete. The team has seen strong results in national competitions and helped raise awareness of para sports across Korea.

“These efforts extend beyond traditional sponsorship,” Netmarble said.

“These initiatives not only enhance the companies’ social impact, but also represent a key force for sustainable management and long-term corporate growth.” (Advertorial)
