Volkswagen’s large SUV, the Atlas, is becoming an attractive option for Korean drivers with its family-oriented appeal, including spacious interiors for multiple car seats, safety features and versatility to accommodate weekend leisure activities.
The Atlas is noted for its space configuration, which makes it suitable for families with multiple children.
All seats in the second row are equipped with ISOFIX anchors, allowing up to three car seats to be installed in the seven-seat model. Although the third row does not have ISOFIX, booster or infant seats can be secured with seat belts and anchors, making it possible to install as many as five car seats in total.
Unlike other six- or seven-seater SUVs, which only allow passengers to access the third row after folding the second-row seats, the Atlas addresses this with a sliding function that allows the entire second row to move smoothly forward, even with a child seat installed.
Through this mechanism, passengers can get in and out of the third row more comfortably, enabling more spaces for parents to take care of children in the back seats.

Due to this design, the Atlas was selected as one of the “2025 Best Cars for Car Seats” by the U.S. automotive review channel Cars.com for the second consecutive year. Cars.com evaluates the ease and safety of installing car seats in all passenger cars, SUVs and minivans sold in the U.S., and the Atlas received an A rating in every category, covering all types and installation methods.
The spacious trunk capacity is another advantage for family use. The Atlas offers a trunk capacity of 583 liters with all seats in use, enough to carry items such as a stroller or shopping bags. The space expands to 1,572 liters when second-row seats are folded and increases to 2,735 liters when both the second and third rows are folded.
This is among the largest in its class, enabling flexible use of space for purposes ranging from transporting furniture to car camping. The vehicle also supports full-flat folding, creating a flat surface when all seats are folded down.

Volkswagen Korea said the Atlas is emerging as an attractive option in the Korean market, as it reflects local drivers’ preference for spacious vehicles within a reasonable price range.
The new Volkswagen Atlas comes in a single trim of 2.0-liter TSI 4Motion R-Line in Korea. The seven-seater retails for 67.7 million won ($48,544) and the six-seater for 68.49 million won.
Volkswagen Korea said that local prices are lower than those of the same trim models sold in the North American market, and competitive compared to other imported large SUVs or domestic models in the same segment.
