Hyundai Motor Group will provide a fleet of its strategic eco-friendly vehicles for upcoming international energy ministerial meetings scheduled for August in the southern port city of Busan, the carmaker said Tuesday.

The company plans to supply a total of 63 vehicles consisting of hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs) for the two events — the 16th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) Meeting and the 10th Mission Innovation (MI) Ministerial Meeting.

The fleet includes 34 all-new Hyundai NEXO hydrogen fuel cell SUVs, 12 Genesis Electrified G80 sedans, 14 Kia EV9 all-electric SUVs and three Hyundai UNIVERSE hydrogen buses. They will be used to transport key participants and support various activities during the meetings.

“Hyundai Motor Group is honored to support these major international energy forums with our hydrogen and electric vehicles,” said Kim Dong-wook, executive vice president and head of the Strategic Policy Division at Hyundai Motor Group.

“By showcasing our eco-friendly vehicles at a venue that discusses the future of global energy, we hope to share our vision for sustainability and innovation with the world.”

The APEC Energy Ministerial Meeting is set to run for two days starting Aug. 27. The event will bring together representatives from 21 member economies to discuss critical energy agendas such as power grid infrastructure, energy security, electricity supply stability and energy innovation with artificial intelligence (AI).

The CEM and MI Ministerial Meetings will be held jointly for three days starting Aug. 25. Representatives from some 31 countries are expected to attend the event to discuss clean power transition, hydrogen and future fuels, AI-driven energy solutions and carbon reduction technologies.

The participants include energy ministers and government delegations from more than 40 countries around the world, as well as key stakeholders from international organizations.

Hyundai Motor Group aims to take advantage of the events by showcasing the capability of its electrified models and reinforcing its commitment to a sustainable future, the carmaker said.

The NEXO SUV will serve as the main official vehicle, which will represent the group’s hydrogen leadership and green mobility vision. The vehicle can drive up to 720 kilometers on a single charge.

“We will strengthen our position as one of the world’s most advanced eco-friendly mobility solutions providers by providing the vehicles to the upcoming events,” a Hyundai official said.

Hyundai Motor Group has a track record of providing eco-friendly cars for key international events in recent years, including the 43rd ASEAN summit in 2023 and the G20 Bali summit in 2022.
