Jeep Korea's Avenger electric SUV is becoming increasingly popular as an ideal second car for parents who frequently drive in the city to pick up their children from school and extracurricular activities.
The Avenger, an electric vehicle (EV), made its much-awaited debut in Korea in September. According to the carmaker's data, more than 20 percent of potential customers consider purchasing the vehicle as a second family car, specifically for stay-at-home spouses to drive.
This is because of its competitive price range and strong design identity, the automaker said.
The Jeep Avenger features the brand's signature boxy design and offers customers six vibrant color options. The vehicle is appealing due to its compact size, measuring 4,085 millimeters in length.
Customers can buy the vehicle at less than 50 million won ($37,800) after receiving government subsidies.
The company focused on enhancing the EV's safety by introducing a specially designed battery shield. It protects the vehicle's battery and its lower body, helping minimize the likelihood of battery fire.
The Avenger also boasts powerful driving performance and offers decent mileage of up to 292 kilometers on a single charge. The figure may not sound satisfactory to some drivers, but it is still enough for most city commutes in Korea.
The vehicle also offers decent driving performance even under tough road conditions. This is powered by the car's much-touted Selec-Terrain system which enables customers to continue their safe driving even in sandy, muddy or snowy conditions.
Jeep also maximized the internal space with 34 liters of internal storage and a 380-liter trunk, even if the vehicle is classified as a small SUV.
The Avenger is also equipped with basic driving safety systems, such as a lane keeping assist system and a total of eight parking sensors, ensuring safer driving and parking even for inexperienced drivers.
Jeep is the flagship brand under Stellantis Korea, and the local subsidiary of the global carmaker hopes to achieve a major rebound with the EV here.
"Jeep Avenger made its debut in Korea for the first time in Asia, and is a versatile, small electric SUV that will attract new customers," Stellantis Korea CEO Bang Sil said.
"Customers, who particularly want differentiated design, will never be disappointed with the SUV."
