Mercedes-Benz has presented League of Legends player Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok with the world’s only vehicle that has been handcrafted by the company to emboss his prominence in the global game community, according to Mercedes-Benz Korea, Friday.

Mathias Vaitl, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, presented Lee with a customized Mercedes-AMG SL 63 on Thursday during Hall of Legends 2024 Media Day at The Shilla Seoul hotel. The gift was to celebrate Lee being the very first inductee into the Hall of Legends, established earlier this year by Riot Games, the publisher of League of Legends. Riot Games previously announced Lee’s induction into the hall last month.

Mercedes-Benz has been sponsoring all global League of Legends Esports events since 2020.

The vehicle for Lee, who has been playing for the esports team T1 since 2013, was crafted by the carmaker’s MANUFAKTUR, a customization program that offers customers exclusive paints, interiors and other personalized options. Lee’s new roadster features Faker’s signature on the headrest and Hall of Legends lettering on the floor mats.

“Our longstanding, wonderful partnership with Riot Games enables us to create extraordinary moments for the esports community,” said Bettina Fetzer, vice president of communications & marketing at Mercedes-Benz AG. “The Mercedes-AMG SL 63 Roadster, personalized by hand in honor of Faker, embodies both top performance and uniqueness. Both attributes perfectly match Faker’s style of play.”

Mercedes-Benz, as part of the induction ceremony for Lee, also gifted him a bespoke art piece created in cooperation with a renowned design studio. The artwork shows Faker in his hometown Seoul next to the vehicle in an art style that is “synonymous with the typical League of Legends brand art style,” according to the German car giant.

“We’re proud to have Mercedes-Benz as a partner for the Hall of Legends,” said Chris Greeley, global head of strategy for League of Legends Esports. “A customized, handcrafted car is the perfect tribute to Faker for his Hall of Legends induction. It underlines Mercedes-Benz’s appreciation for the entire League of Legends community.”

Mercedes-Benz, in partnership with Riot Games, has been sponsoring the League of Legends World Championship and Mid-Season Invitational of the game. The Hall of Legends has become another Riot Games category for the luxury car brand to sponsor.

In addition to handing over the car, Mercedes-Benz also plans to release an official “Winner Film” to mark Faker’s Hall of Legends induction.
