Coway is strengthening its dominance in the domestic bidet market with its new products that have enhanced self-sterilizing features, the company said, Thursday.
As the culture of pursuing hygiene and convenience in living environments becomes more essential, bidets have secured their place as core appliances used by more than 40 percent of households in Korea.
The recent trend in the bidet industry here is that consumers are paying attention to whether bidets are equipped with better self-sterilizing functions, according to Coway.
"The key factors that should be considered first when choosing a bidet are definitely hygiene and cleaning technology. Coway is a leader in the bidet market since it launched the world’s first bidet with a sterilization function in 2009," the company said.
Recently, Coway launched its new product BAS40-A. This product, equipped with a three-stage sterilization system, has been drawing popularity since its launch, based on its differentiated hygiene and cleaning power, the company said.
For consumers who feel that the water pressure of existing bidets is weak, Coway has upgraded its devices, the company added.
Coway also unveiled the BAS39A, a product specialized for old buildings and rest rooms located on high floors where difficulty in installing bidets and weak water pressure are otherwise barriers to adoption of the technology. The product is equipped with a low-pressure pump, and can be installed without restrictions even in bathrooms with low water pressure.
"We are strengthening our technological competitiveness by actively reflecting consumers' voices on the overall product, such as powerful automatic sterilization technology, custom cleaning function and installation environment," a company spokesperson said.
"We will solidify our market leadership by leading with the 'Lulu' bidet, which has become the standard for bidets, and contribute to the formation of a healthy living culture," the official added.
