Hyundai Motor Group unveiled "Art Cars" created in collaboration with K-culture artists during the ASEAN summit to promote Busan's bid to host the 2030 World Expo, according to the company, Monday.
The 43rd ASEAN Summit is being held between Sept. 5 and Sept. 7 in Jakarta, Indonesia, and at the event, Hyundai Motor Group is set to operate 23 specially produced Art Cars.
To emphasize the unique aspect of Busan's bid, which focuses on a "carbon-neutral Expo through eco-friendly technology," Hyundai Motor Group selected three electric vehicle (EV) models, including IONIQ 5, IONIQ 6, and Genesis G80 electric models, as Art Cars. They will also introduce the Stargazer X, which was selected as the "Car of the Year in Indonesia" last year and is a strategic model for Southeast Asia.
Hyundai Motor Group collaborated with artist J Flow, who contributed to the globalization of K-graffiti, to create the Art Car. The vehicle is wrapped with graffiti designs that represent major symbols of Busan, such as the Gwangan Bridge and seagulls, on the front and sides. The slogan "BUSAN is Ready," displayed in J Flow's colorful style on the vehicles, expresses hope for Busan's successful bid.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to operate the Art Cars near the ASEAN summit venue and major landmarks in Jakarta to create a favorable atmosphere for Busan Expo's bid. In addition, they will screen promotional videos for the Busan Expo on over 30 screens installed at Sukarno Hatta International Airport Terminal 3 and on more than 20 outdoor billboards in major areas of Jakarta.
"The Art Cars, which embody the sentiment of K-culture, will contribute to promoting the Busan's determination to host the Expo," a Hyundai Motor Group official said.
Hyundai Motor Group plans to continue promoting Busan's Expo bid by using specially produced Art Cars in various cities around the world, including Paris, France, where the headquarters of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) is located.
