Hyundai Motor, Kia donate $300,000 for Maui relief efforts

Hyundai Motor and Kia decided to donate a total of $300,000 to support the U.S. island of Maui in Hawaii, which was recently hit by a massive wildfire, according to Hyundai Motor Group, Friday.

The companies also said they have decided to offer discounts and other financial support for people who are affected by the disaster.

Hyundai Motor America said it will donate $150,000 to the American Red Cross and local charities in Hawaii and is also offering the Maui Disaster Relief Buyer and Owner Assurance program.

Through this program, residents affected by the disaster on the island will be able to receive a $1,000 cash rebate on all new 2023-2024 Hyundai models and a $2,000 cash rebate on all new 2023-2024 Genesis models with no payments for 90 days on all new annual percentage rate contracts.

“The island of Maui has been devastated by the recent wildfires and our thoughts are with the local and historic communities that are greatly impacted,” Jose Munoz, president and CEO of Hyundai and Genesis Motor North America, said.

Kia America will also donate a total of $150,000 to two organizations that are responding to the devastating wildfires in Hawaii.

“The American Red Cross and the Hawaii Community Foundation will receive $100,000 and $50,000, respectively, to support relief efforts on the island,” Kia America said.

The company also provides a $1,000 cash rebate on all new 2023-2024 Kia models for customers who provide proof of vehicle or home damage caused by the Maui wildfire.

“The fires in Hawaii are devastating not only to the local community, they also impact the entire nation and Kia is dedicated to supporting those in need through our 'Accelerate The Good' program,” Sean Yoon, president and CEO of Kia North America and Kia America, said.
