Homeplus offers up to 50% discounts on daily supplies, food items

Homeplus has begun the Summer Super Sale Homeple Run to offer up to 50 percent discounts on food items and daily necessities until Aug. 16, at the threshold of the summer holiday season, the company said Monday. It is an extension of the previous Homeple Run sale held to commemorate the company's 26th anniversary in March.

The event is joined by all the retail channels of Homeplus including its retail stores, supermarkets and online mall to offer their major goods at half the original prices to encourage grocery shopping for the summer vacation.

“Expectations for Homeplus' summer sales are growing with our customers showing a fervent response. The sale will help consumers prepare for summer vacation season by easing the burden of pricey groceries affected by prolonged food inflation and the recent rainy season,” a Homeplus official said.

Homeplus' retail stores and grocery stores will offer “buy one, get one free” and discounts up to 50 percent. Its online mall will hold a “half the original price” day once every week and its shopping mall will give a maximum 50 percent discount for summer clothes and selected furniture.

First, the retailer plans to sell a limited amount of popular summer foods including Korean beef and pork belly, at 50 percent off until Aug. 2. The company increased the supply of beef and pork by 20 percent and 200 percent, respectively, for this event.

Customers purchasing more than one item of summer clothing or inner wear will get a 50 percent discount on the items.

Homeplus also secured a limited amount of popular whiskies that have been out of stock for a while. It will sell Suntory Kakubin for 39,800 won ($31.22), The Macallan Double Cask 12 Years Old for 119,900 won, Russell Reserved 10 Years Old for 101,900 won and Glenfarclas 105 for 101,900 won.

Customers who purchase more than 100,000 won worth of whiskey or wine with an event card will also receive an immediate discount of up to 20,000 won.
