LX Hausys is working on improving its presence in Europe's furniture film market as the company is showcasing its eco-friendly and high-performance furniture films at Interzum, an exhibition for furniture and interior design industry in Cologne, Germany, the company said Thursday.

Furniture film is a material that is applied to the surface of plywood such as medium-density fiberboards (MDFs) or particle boards to express various designs. LX Hausys has about 70 kinds of furniture films targeting European consumers who prefer high-quality products made using eco-friendly methods.

At the exhibition, LX Hausys displayed its BIO SHIELD furniture films made of recycled materials. The company said BIO SHIELD film maximizes eco-friendliness by applying a mixture of plant-derived raw materials to the surface-coating layer. Other films include Super Matt Resist 3D, which resists scratches and stains and is easy to mold into different shapes.

Interzum is an exhibition that has been held since 1959. This year's event features more than 1,600 companies related to furniture materials and furniture processing and equipment from around the world. To meet more European buyers, LX Hausys increased the size of its booth by 30 percent compared to last year. It also installed a separate space for visitors to have business meetings.

LX Hausys is fiercely competing with Japanese companies in Europe, the world's largest furniture film market, and plans to utilize the exhibition as a chance to expand its customer base.

“We will continue to expand our market share by increasing our products in the European market, focusing on eco-friendly products and premium, highly functional products,” a spokesman of the company said.
