Driving a high-performance automobile around a racing circuit is on the bucket list of every car fanatic and being able to drive an electric vehicle (EV) that fits the bill is a story of its own.
Audi Korea gave an opportunity to a handful of journalists to test drive its RS e-tron GT during the Audi e-xperience Day, held at the Inje Speedium circuit in Gangwon Province on April 13.
“Inje Speedium circuit is one of the three major circuits in the country, but it is also the most difficult track with a lot of uphill and downhill and curvy roads,” an Audi instructor said. “Here you can experience the full capabilities of the RS e-tron GT.”
Driving the RS e-tron GT was a delight, getting a glimpse of Audi's EV capabilities and future potential in the fast-evolving global EV market.

The vehicle is all about drivability and pure speed. Acceleration is extraordinary ― from zero to 100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds ― forcing the driver back into their seat. And it all happens silently ― something a driver, used to internal combustion engine vehicles will not be accustomed to.
Nine laps around the circuit were enough to feel the performance and power of Audi's EV ― taking corners at over 80 km/h and pushing to over 200 km/h on the straights. The vehicle is supported by the latest air suspension, which enables steering through tight corners with relative ease.
This vehicle has a maximum output of 646 horsepower and a maximum torque of 84.7 kg m, which provides thrilling acceleration but is also stable with excellent braking.
The RS model is equipped with a lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 93.4㎾h, allowing it to drive up to 336 km, based on WLTP, when fully charged. The battery system sits between the axles at the car's lowest point, providing a low center of gravity, suitable for a sports car.
The RS e-tron GT is Audi's pure electric sports car, and in terms of performance, all that needs to be said is that it packs all the punch you'd expect from a high-performance supercar. The domestic sales price is 206.32 million won ($157,800).
