LS Cable & System announced it will launch a cable remote management system called i-check, and start to implement it in large-scale commercial facilities, industrial complexes and buildings according to the company.
LS Cable & System is a South Korea-based industrial corporation operating globally and is one of the biggest cable manufacturers in the world.
LS Cable & System plans to strengthen environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) management through the commercialization of electrical safety-related technologies and contribute to the creation of an ESG ecosystem.
The management system enables the internet of things (IoT) sensor to be attached to the cable to detect abnormal conditions such as overheating and short circuits and prevent power outages and fires due to cable abnormalities.
Administrators can check cables' status in real-time via the web or mobile devices and receive notifications when a problem arises.
The company also developed a method to digitize and manage cable information. By recognizing a special QR code with a dedicated reader or mobile device, you can easily check the manufacturing and maintenance history of cables and the remaining service lifespan.
“Electrical factors such as short circuits, overloads, overcurrents and cable damage are the biggest causes of fires in Korea,” the company said. There have been a lot of inquiries from data centers, petrochemical plants, and hospitals to implement the technology in their facilities.” (advertorial)
