Dongsuh Foods Corporation is carrying out various culture and art programs as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts.

The “Scent of Maxim Love,” which sponsors children's orchestral music education, “Dongsuh Foods Dream Library” for young students and the “Maxim Coffee Cup” professional Go competition are the three representative CSR activities of the food firm.

Dongsuh Foods has been supporting the Scent of Maxim Love for 14 years now and it has spent a total 370 million won on musical instrument donations and repairs and providing educational spaces for young musicians.

This year, Dongsuh Foods visited Songcheon Elementary School in Incheon to donate a new violin, cello and timpani as well as lockers to store them.

The food firm also revisited Daeseo Elementary School in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, the beneficiary of the 4th Scent of Maxim Love in 2011, to give away musical instruments like flutes, clarinets and trombones.

Dongsuh Foods has been creating libraries for children since 2017 as part of its CSR activities. Dongsuh Foods Dream Library aims to provide a pleasant studying environment for children. The company donates books as well as repairs libraries around the country.

Until last year, Dongsuh Foods picked Sangsan Elementary School in Jincheon, Incheon Bupyeongdong Elementary School, Changwon Myeongdo Elementary School and Daejeon Seowon Elementary School as beneficiaries, giving away 2,000 new books and renovating their libraries.

This year, Dongsuh visited Dongam Elementary School in Bupyeong District, Incheon, and purchased 3,400 books for the whole grades there. It also replaced old bookstore and expanded the library to provide more reading space for lower grades.

The food firm is also taking the lead in efforts to develop and popularize the domestic Go culture. Dongsuh Foods first opened the Maxim Coffee Cup in 1999 and the professional Go tournament celebrates its 23rd anniversary this year.

In last year's Maxim Coffee Cup, two 9-dan Go players Lee Ji-hyun and Shin Min-joon joined the competition. Lee and Shin met in the final round of a previous Maxim Coffee Cup where Shin became the winner. It was a sensation as Lee had been on a winning streak since 2014. This year's Maxim Coffee Cup will be held in Seongdong District in Seoul at the Korea Baduk Association building in December. (advertorial)
