Coupang appoints new representative director of business management

Coupang appointed Kang Han-seung, a former lawyer with Kim & Chang, as its new Representative Director of Business Management, Wednesday.

Kang will be in charge of Coupang's legal and management sectors.

"What attracted me was Coupang's corporate spirit of constantly innovating to improve the customer experience to the best it could be," Kang said. "I aim to use all my various experience to do my best to help Coupang give more value to our customers and to Korean society."

From 2013, Kang worked as an attorney at Kim & Chang, Korea's largest law firm. During that time he advised various innovative companies, including Coupang.

Kang has also worked in the legal field in Korea and abroad, serving as presidential secretary for legal affairs, judge at the Seoul High Court, Special Counselor to the Legislation and Judiciary Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Counselor for Judicial Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States, and government representative at the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law and the International Court of Justice in The Hague.
