American fast casual restaurant chain Shake Shack will introduce a new Gochujang Chicken Shack burger today exclusively for Korea, local operator SPC Group said Monday.

The special new burger was invented by Shake Shack culinary director Mark Rosati, who was inspired by traditional Korean food when he visited Seoul.

Gochujang Chicken Shack comprises of chicken breast cooked sous-vide style with gochujang, or red chili paste, on the top and kimchi inside.

Shake Shack also introduced the Gochujang Shack burger with extra gochujang sauce mixed with mayonnaise.

Alongside the two burgers, there are Gochujang Fries that can be ordered as part of a meal set. They come with hot mayonnaise sauce, red pepper powder and chopped chives placed on top of crinkle-cut fries.

Gochujang Chicken Shack, Gochujang Shack and Gochujang Fries cost 9,500 won, 9,800 won and 5,400 won, respectively. The three will be available for limited sales through October.

If they receive positive feedback and sell well here, they will be sold in other countries too.

SPC Group secured a business management license in Singapore for Shake Shack in October 2018 and has opened two restaurants there already.

“The traditional Korean food ingredient gochujang harmonizes well with crispy but juicy fried chicken. We are sure, the burgers will provide a new experience for not only locals but also for people around the world too,” an SPC official said. “Shake Shack will continue to create various foods as a fine casual dining brand.”

Shake Shack has prepared several events to celebrate the new burgers.

SPC Group will give 10,000 won e-coupon to 50 people who correctly answer questions on a quiz related to Shake Shack's new menu on its Happy Points mobile application platform until Oct. 11.

The food company will also conduct a lucky draw for free coupons for 100 people who are followers of Shake Shack Korea's official Instagram account and those who leave comments on the Gochujang menu posted online.
