GM Korea Friday named GM International Operations Director Yoon Myong-ok as chief public relations officer, replacing GM Korea Vice President Hwang Ji-na.

Yoon will take over from Hwang on Oct. 1, and manage all GM Korea's public relations activities as managing director of GM Korea and GM Technical Center Korea.

Yoon joined General Motors in 2019 and has been in charge of corporate and executive communications of GM International Operations.

Before joining General Motors, she led GE Healthcare Korea's public affairs from 2016 to 2018 as part of her 23-year public affairs career. During her career, Yoon showed expertise and accomplishments in marketing communications, corporate social responsibility and other communications activities, GM Korea said.

Outgoing chief Hwang will step down from her post on Sept. 30. Hwang joined GM in 2012 and has been leading the carmaker's public relations for the past nine years as a member of GM's global communication leadership. Since 2017, Hwang has also been chairperson of Women in Innovation Korea, a non-profit organization promoting women's leadership in corporate organizations.
