Everland amusement park will hold a New Year countdown featuring fireworks on Dec. 31 to welcome 2020, its operator Samsung C&T said Sunday.
The event is part of the 2020 Begin Again with Everland campaign, a series of events such as parades and concerts that the theme park is holding through next February.
The New Year countdown will take place in the Four Seasons Garden zone on New Year's Eve, starting with a 2,020-second countdown. Then a spectacular fireworks display ― three times bigger than the theme park's usual fireworks show ― will begin at midnight for about 10 minutes.
Everland will be open until 1 a.m. on that day, while buses for Gangnam, Suwon, Yongin and Bundang will operate until 1:30 a.m.
Before the New Year countdown, a variety of special events will begin at 10:50 p.m. at the venue. The events include the park's popular parades such as Hello MINI, Halloween Wicked, Carnival Fantasy and Moonlight.
A club party will follow the parades, encouraging visitors to sing and dance.
During New Year's Eve, special performances will also take place.
Singer Hong Dae-kwang will perform at 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. in the Four Seasons Garden zone, while Singing Angels children's choir will perform there for 20 minutes from 8:20 p.m.
The classical Bling Bling Winter Concert will be held on the Grand Stage.
All the special performances will be free.
Meanwhile, the theme park has moved its popular Tarot Card Zone from the square in front of T Express to the Snow Buster lounge. Visitors will be able to have their fortunes read for the New Year at the renamed Tarot Street.
