A parked BMW mysteriously erupted in flames on Wednesday, fueling concerns about the German brand's safety triggered by a series of engine fires in BMWs while they were being driven.
The fire reportedly happened at 1:50 p.m. in a public parking lot in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. Video footage captured by Paju Fire Station shows flames coming from the bottom of the engine bay.
The car was a BMW 528i (2010 model), which is not subject to an ongoing recall of fire-prone models.
The Korea Times contacted Paju Fire Station to get details, but was unable to talk with the dispatched firefighters because they had gone home after night duty.
An investigation is under way to find the fire's cause.
