Giant Netmarble unveiled its new mobile fishing game “Fishing Strike,” Friday.

Developed by Wemade Plus, “Fishing Strike” is available at the Google Play app store and Apple's App Store in 251 countries excluding China.

Netmarble said what distinguished “Fishing Strike” from previous fishing games is that the newest game provides players with an immersive experience using augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).

“'Fishing Strike' is expected to provide players a glimpse of the real atmosphere of fishing so that users can experience a battle between angler and fish,” the company said.

In the game, players can travel the globe to catch 500 different types of fish.

Players are required to choose their own characters and are allowed to level up to learn each character's unique fishing skills.

Once players finish catching their fish, they can exhibit them in their own virtual aquarium and enjoy them in different ways using 360-degree camera, VR and AR technologies.

Netmarble has been receiving pre-registrations for the fishing game since February and has attracted more than 1 million players throughout the world.

For those who registered earlier, Netmarble presented useful in-game items that help players fish easily.

The company added special offers will be available through April 25. Players can receive special in-game items every day.

It remains to be seen whether the latest fishing game can compete with traditional powerhouses here. In

2014, Com2uS, a subsidiary of mobile game developer Gamevil, rolled out the mobile fishing game “Ace Fishing,” which has recorded more than 500 million downloads worldwide.

Also, Gamevil's “Fishing Superstar” has been one of the popular mobile fishing games here since its launch in 2012.

Gamevil plans to roll out a sequel of “Fishing Superstar” in the latter half of this year.

The second edition of “Fishing Superstar” will use Unreal Engine 4 software to allow users to experience improved renderings and landscape.
