Hyundai Motor has signed its biggest Chinese deal to provide 1,000 Mighty light-duty commercial trucks to a logistics company there, the auto giant said Tuesday.
Hyundai Motor’s Sichuan Hyundai began marketing and selling the model last September.
Its deal with Sutong Express marks the biggest since the Mighty was released by Sichuan Hyundai exclusively for the Chinese market.
The Hangzhou-based Chinese logistics company with more than a thousand delivery networks operates about 3,000 commercial vehicles, the Korean automaker noted.
Its 2018 plan included purchasing 1,500 new vehicles.
“With this deal, we will strengthen relations with Chinese buyers. This will allow Hyundai to further market the model in other areas beyond Hangzhou,” a Hyundai official said.
Hyundai Motor will also develop other strategic products tailored to local Chinese needs.
The company has also sold 500 Xcient trucks in Indonesia and 200 County buses in Myanmar.
Hyundai Motor Group was recently recognized as the most socially responsible company in China.
The Chinese Academy of social Sciences (CASS), a state-run think tank, evaluated 300 companies' social contribution, including those of China's state-run enterprises.
It ranked Hyundai Motor No.1 on its index.
This marks the first time a foreign-invested company in China has topped the corporate social responsibility (CSR) index.
Hyundai Motor Group has been recognized as the most socially responsible company among all auto companies operating in China every year since 2014.
Established in 1977, CASS is the most comprehensive academic research organization and national center in China for study in the fields of philosophy and social sciences.
