Renault Samsung to unveil face-lifted SUV in September

Renault Samsung Motors, the South Korean unit of French automaker Renault S.A., is expected to unveil a face-lifted version of its QM5 SUV in September in the country, industry sources said Thursday.

Renault Samsung is working to finalize the details of the new SUV, which will likely be named 'QM6,' they said.

Renault Samsung unveiled an all-new version of its QM5 SUV at the Beijing auto show in April. The QM5 is being marketed as the Renault Koleos overseas.

Renault Samsung's new SUV will compete with rival models, such as Hyundai Motor Co.'s Santa Fe and Tuscon and Kia Motors' Sorento and Sportage in the mid-sized SUV market, which has shown strong growth over the past few years.

The QM5, unveiled in November 2007, had lost appeal to local customers with a total of 96 units sold here last month. (Yonhap)
