The Amore-Pacific Group, thanks to the robust performance of several cosmetic brands, recorded its highest sales last year, the company said.
Yearly sales of the nation’s largest cosmetics maker totaled 5.66 trillion won ($4.71 billion) in 2015, up 21 percent from 2014, breaking the 5 trillion-won sales threshold for the first time, it said. The company’s operating profit jumped 38.6 percent to 913.6 billion won.
Amore-Pacific’s exports soared 44.4 percent to 1.25 trillion won, thanks mainly to enhanced marketing and expanded business abroad, it said. The company’s domestic sales rose 18.9 percent to 3.65 trillion won. Sales from other businesses, including household items, grew 6.6 percent to 492.9 billion won.
Domestic sales increased mainly because foreign tourists bought more duty-free goods. The overseas business recorded brisk performances in Asian and North American markets, company officials said.
Amore-Pacific launched brands in China to diversify its product portfolio while developing more marketing channels in North America, raising sales there 39 percent, they said.
