LG Uplus, the nation’s No. 3 mobile carrier, has won an award from the world’s largest mobile exhibition.
The company received the award from the Mobile World Congress (MWC) Shanghai 2015 for its contribution to commercializing successfully voice-over long-term evolution (VoLTE) services.
“It is a great honor that our excellent network system has been recognized at the MWC,” said Kim Sun-tae, executive vice president of LG Uplus, Wednesday. “We will do our best to be one of the world’s leading companies by providing best value for our customers.”
The three-day mobile fair, which began Wednesday, credited LG Uplus for offering clearer and faster voice calls to its users with fourth-generation LTE networks.
The company has provided the VoLTE service to more than 7 million users in Korea since it was introduced in July 2012.
“As the nation’s largest VoLTE provider, we try to make sure all users can use the HD Voice service when they make phone calls,” an LG Uplus official said.
In April, LG Uplus succeeded in launching VoLTE roaming services for the first time in the world, partnering with Japanese mobile carrier KDDI.
By laying the foundation to provide stable VoLTE services, LG Uplus is making efforts to become the standard in global VoLTE services, the company said in a press release.
