Daimler Trucks Korea, a commercial vehicle unit of Daimler AG here, has launched new lineups with Euro 6 engines to boost its presence in the nation’s growing truck segment.

In a launch ceremony at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in downtown Seoul, Thursday, company CEO Rainer Gaertner said the five fully modified trucks will boost its market share in Korea.

“I am glad that we have introduced fully upgraded truck lineups in Korea,” Gaertner said. “All the vehicles meet Euro 6 environment regulations and boast of high fuel efficiency and low maintenance costs. We will make every effort to increase customer satisfaction by offering differentiated, customized services.”

The vehicles include two big trucks ― the new Actros and Arocs ― the new Atego mid-sized truck, the new Sprinter luxury van and the new Unimog special-purpose truck.

The company stressed that all the five vehicles satisfy the Euro 6, an environment regulation for diesel-powered cars introduced by the European Union. It obliges automakers seeking to export vehicles to Europe to drastically reduce the emissions of fine dust, nitrogen oxide and other by-products.

The Actros and Arocs are priced at between 172 million won and 237 million won, and the Atego at 96 million won, according to Daimler.

The automaker said its engineers ran an extensive test on the Actros, the carmaker’s most popular model in Korea, during its development stage to minimize air resistance and increase its fuel efficiency. The truck is also equipped with the state-of-the-art active brake assist, first developed by Mercedes-Benz.

The automaker applied the eco-support driving system to the Actros and Arocs to help motorists save on fuel.
