Jun Ji-hyun, SKT named best model, commercial

Actress Jun Ji-hyun and SK Telecom’s TV commercial featuring her were selected as the best model and ad this year, according to the Korea Broadcasting Advertising Corp. (KOBACO), Monday.

That was the results of the firm’s survey of 5,000 people aged between 13 and 64 across the country.

The TV commercial, in which Jun sings “You are handsome,” earned 15.5 percent support from the surveyed people. SKT ranked 10th last year.

The second-best ad went to a commercial done by SKT’s biggest rival, KT, which features a popular folk singer and a comedian. An ad for a vitamin beverage came in third and an LG Uplus ad was fourth.

Jun was named the best commercial model with 15.9 percent support, followed by K-pop singer Suzy with 6.8 percent and actress Kim Soo-hyun with 6.7 percent. Figure skater Kim Yuna came in fourth.

Jun, a popular model-turned-actress, rose to international stardom after she starred in SBS TV’s hit drama “My Love from the Star,” which became a smash hit in China and many other Asian countries.

KOBACO said Jun’s popularity had played a key role in increasing people’s awareness of SKT’s commercial.
