CJ Foodville signed an agreement with a Chinese company to open up to 60 outlets of its bakery chain “Tous Les Jours” in the Shandong area over the next five years.
The Qingdao Daily News and Media, a joint venture between Qingdao Media Group and DC Group, signed the contract with CJ in Seoul Monday.
“If we consider our contract as a marriage between the two companies, Tous Les Jours is our child. CJ Foodville will fully support Tous Les Jours to grow well,” CJ Foodville CEO Jung Moon-mok said in a statement.
The bakery chain’s strategic move is to expand its presence in the Chinese market, a company official said.
It will become the seventh province in China in which the bakery chain has opened outlets. The company now runs some 60 outlets in China.
The franchise runs 157 outlets in seven countries, including the United States, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines.
